Triads are 3-note chords (triads). Remember that there are four basic types of triads: major, minor, augmented and diminished.
Once you have learned your major and minor chords, its time to add the augmented and diminished chords to your jazz theory (or basic music theory) knowledge base. These chords are used throughout jazz tunes and you will need to practice and memorize their construction to be able to arrange a tune for small group or big band.
This video shows you a simple method for learning your augmented and diminished triads. You will also learn how to notate them on the staff, as well as how to notate them as chord symbols.
